Designer Oscar de la Renta’s - Pre-Fall 2008 Ready To Wear show on December 3, 2007 at 583 Park Avenue in New York City.
Oscar de la Renta, who is well credited for his long and successful career in haute couture, presented his Pre-Fall 2008 Ready To Wear collection, that showed about 63 new looks for the season. Floral prints are so summery ! But, not only were they incorporated in abundance, his variation on them came as a good surprise, with a two silk faille panel-print gowns. Then there was a cobalt and sepia embroidered jacket, worn over a black-and-white silk satin face organza dress with floral embroidery.
He also showed several tweed outfits, including a brown teed suit, which is very close to his take on class that’s evident in most of this designer’s creations. The kind of elegance that is signified by the European designers, is a rarity. But Oscar, being the first American to design for a French couture house, defies that belief with ease.
More looks to pay attention to are - A plum cashmere cardigan over a chartreuse silk blouse, worn with burgundy washed-silk pants and another one with a cashmere bolero over a red brocade embroidered dress. The style to adopt for the fall, which is one of my picks from the fall collection, is the white satin organza blouse, with cardinal silk dip-dyed embroidered skirt.
The art of teaming a jacket with a gown got richer with a red brocade jacket that was paired with a black lace embroidered gown. More gowns from his pre-fall creations, include a gown in embroidered black tulle and a royal blue silk taffeta pleated gown, which marked the end of the show.
Designer Oscar de la Renta discusses the future of his label, his personal life and how he stays relevant.
